Here’s something to think about it…
Kindness or being “nice” is often confused with empathy. As I’ve heard Maria Ross, author of the book, “The Empathy Edge,” say on a podcast, “empathy has a couple components to it. There’s a cognitive side – I can see your point of view and an emotional side – I have been through very similar / same thing and experienced emotions in same / similar way. You can be nice and not see things from the person’s point of view. Remember with empathy, you are NOT agreeing with the person, just seeing things from the person’s point of view.
So, my question to you:
What did you say to someone recently to show empathy?
Are you ready to dig into building the critical skill of empathy? I help Organizations inspire confidence back into their team for innovation and growth. I help Organizations design and implement a system that fosters and protects a strong culture where employees are heard and understood from leadership down.
