Employee Engagement - To Feel Appreciated

Here’s something to think about it…

Employees have 5 basic needs in the workplace; one of which includes feeling appreciated. For me, this means:

  • I am consistently being thanked / recognized

  • I receive feedback – in moment and continuous (both positive and developmental)

  • I feel valued

  • I’m given the right tools to do my job – my needs are appreciated

  • My progress is communicated to me

It’s helpful to understand what it means to you, and communicate that to your supervisor. If you lead a team, remember that feeling appreciated may look different for each team member and especially different from what it means to you.

My question to you: What does feeling appreciated mean to your team members?
