I don’t like to overcomplicate things as life is complicated enough. So, when I think about what employees need, one of the first things that come to mind is expectations. This is a basic employee need that’s often overlooked, not communicated, or even not clear. Therefore, as an employee, make sure you know what is expected of you; if you don’t ask. If you are a manager or supervisor of someone, clearly communicate expectations to each of your employees. This is something that we do, something we can control that helps lay the foundation for employee engagement in the workplace.
