Here’s something to think about it…
Sometimes, misunderstandings in the workplace can stem from not fully grasping how others feel appreciated. Have you ever noticed that your efforts to show appreciation didn’t quite hit the mark? It’s often because we all have different ways of feeling valued.
When thinking about how to appreciate others, it’s crucial to understand that everyone values different things. For example, if someone doesn’t value tangible gifts and you keep giving them such items, thinking a cup or a token will make them feel appreciated, it won’t resonate if tangible gifts are their lowest language of appreciation. This doesn’t make them weird; it simply means they are different from you. Every person has a unique way in which they feel appreciated.
My question to you: What is your language of appreciation? And if you’re a leader, do you know your team’s languages of appreciation?
