Let’s think about it…

It depends on how often you use your assertiveness EQ Leadership skills… Before we dive in, lets refresh our memory on what flexing these skills may look like: expresses self easily and without offending others; defends rights in a nondestructive manner; non-abusive but forthright.

To learn more about your own assertiveness, you can take an EQ self-assessment or EQ 360 assessment. With this information, we would have a ton of information to customize a plan to develop your leadership skills.

Tip, generally speaking: if you frequently use your assertiveness skills, then remain aware of the difference between assertiveness and aggressiveness. Becoming overconfident in your ability or being too rigid in defending your position may result in unproductive, stubborn, or aggressive behavior.

Tip, generally speaking: if you don’t use your assertiveness skills that often, then try setting a small goal before you go into an assertive situation. When you are clear upfront on what you want to achieve, it is easier to assert yourself.
