Let’s think about it…

It depends on how often you use your independence EQ Leadership skills… Before we dive in, lets refresh our memory on what flexing these skills may look like: free from emotional dependence; directive; decisive; accountable; self-determined.

To learn more about your own independence, you can take an EQ self-assessment or EQ 360 assessment. With this information, we would have a ton of information to customize a plan to develop your leadership skills.

Tip, generally speaking: if you frequently use your independence skills, then be cautious not to neglect the emotions and opinions of your colleagues. Keep a close eye on how often you go off in your own direction, rather than building coalitions.

Tip, generally speaking: if you don’t use your independence skills that often, then stop the negative self-talk. The next time you find yourself making excuses for why you shouldn't act/decide on your own, write down arguments against each of your self-talk excuses.
